OUR BEGINNINGS

Dave and Cindy Haglund opened a cabinet store in 1975, but by the late 1980s, the sluggish economy was hurting business. After noticing how well his car ran after a tune-up, Dave had a brainstorm:

In 2003, Dave & Cindy’s eldest daughter, Heidi Morrissey, joined Kitchen Tune-Up, eventually becoming President. Most kitchen remodels cost a fortune and leave homeowners without the use of their kitchen for weeks, if not months. Kitchen Tune-Up allows customers to update their kitchens quickly and inexpensively by choosing one of our five different service lines.

OUR ORIGINAL TUNE-UP

We restore the client’s existing cabinets and other wood surfaces by removing dirt, grease, smoke, and dust, then touch up the color where it may have faded. Most jobs take only one day. Then we schedule annual tune-ups to maintain the like-new condition of the cabinetry.

CABINET PAINTING

Painting is a great option for clients who wants a fast change at a lower price point. We’ve developed a process that’s quick and easy for our franchise owners to offer.

CABINET REDOORING

Replacing the cabinet doors and drawer fronts is an affordable option that provides an updated, modern look with no demo. Clients can choose to keep the same color as the existing cabinet boxes or paint them.

CABINET REFACING

In addition to new doors and drawer fronts, the cabinet box face frames, exposed ends and more (essentially everything you see when the doors are closed) are finished with a new veneer. Since this doesn’t involve replacing the existing cabinet boxes, it saves the client time and money

NEW CABINETS

If the client opts to replace their cabinets completely, we can save them money thanks to our connections with the nation’s top cabinet manufacturers. Clients can choose from the largest selection of wood species, stain colors and door styles available anywhere.

OUR CUSTOMERS

Kitchen Tune-Up handles both residential and commercial projects.

Our target residential demographic is married women ages 50+ in upper income brackets as incentive to DIY declines as household income increases.

They may have thought about remodeling for years, but only get started after a life event like a divorce, or an empty next. Most clients intend to stay in the home for at least another 5-10 years after the remodel.

Our commercial clients include restaurants, offices/breakrooms, banks, country clubs, dormitories, synagogues and churches, condos, multi-unit housing, and much more. We provide our commercial clients with the same services as our residential clients.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

There are four common components that make up the typical workday of a Kitchen Tune-Up Franchisee:

NETWORKING
  • Build relationships with industry partners (e.g., appliance & countertop stores, real estate agents, etc.) to generate referrals
  • Implement the local area marketing toolkit to generate leads
SALES CONSULTATIONS
  • Meet with clients at their home to provide samples and materials for review
  • Build and present the proposal to collect a deposit and schedule the installation
MARKETING
  • Update and track your leads and projects in ServiceMinder (CRM)
  • Order marketing and business materials through our preferred suppliers
PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Track ordering, shipping, and installation schedules.

Follow up on completed projects to be sure clients are completely satisfied.

Most of our owners use subcontractors or employees for some of the work in their business. On average our franchisees have 2-4 employees and work with 2-3 subcontractors. The business is scalable and can be operated home-based or as a retail location.

TRAINING AND SUPPORT

The majority of our franchisees have no prior experience in the cabine- try, remodeling, or home service industries, but our training program turns them into experts.

You’ll begin with pre-training. Our 4 week home-study course will guide you through everything you need to know to open your Kitchen Tune-Up franchise, including manuals and videos about core
Kitchen Tune-Up services.

Then you’ll receive 11 days of virtual and hands-on training at our Experience Center in Dallas where our franchise experts will teach you technical training, marketing, sales, accounting, operations,
suppliers, and more.

Post Training

Training doesn’t stop after training school – We continue to provide structure and various touchpoints as you are launching your business.
